Executive Coaching

My coaching practice is driven a passion for helping young and experienced leaders alike to find their inspiration, create career intention, and navigate the journey to make it all come to life.  The goal is not just to find the next job, but to find the ideal career opportunity wherever you are in your career journey. As such, my process includes a strong dose of self-assessment and reflection that lays the foundation for identifying, targeting and finding that opportunity.

What’s the Process?

My process can generally be broken into three phases, with individual customization done at each phase.

Phase One: Key Motivators - Identifying factors that motivate you to be your best self

Sample areas of exploratory may include:

  • What were the drivers of performance when you felt your absolute best (personally or professionally)?

  • What most inspired you?

  • Where did you get your energy from?

  • What did success look and feel like?

Phase Two:  Key Drivers – Identifying the factors that drive you to success in your professional life

Sample areas of exploratory may include:

  • Personal Drivers: e.g. finances, mental balance, friends & family

  • Emotional Drivers: e.g. tangible impact, visible relevance, validation, recognition

  • Functional Drivers: e.g. analysis, business building, storytelling, operations

Phase Three:  The Ideal Opportunity – Profiling the ideal career opportunity and developing the tools to help find it

Sample areas of exploratory may include:

  • Developing a personal narrative based on your motivators and drivers

  • Identifying the types of roles that could satisfy all your motivators and drivers

  • Creating your “sales pitch” to go after those roles

  • Updating your tools: e.g. resume, Linked-In, socials, etc

It’s important to note that these phases can work concurrently with an on-going opportunity search and assessment, networking, and interviewing.  Real-time experience in engaging in a career search can significantly enhance the result of each phase of the process.

What’s the benefit?

I have helped people at all stages of their life and career re-orient their focus and launch new, exciting and fulfilling chapters in their careers. The proven benefits of his process include:

  • Developing a more detailed understanding of what motivates you to be at your absolute best, most inspired and engaged in your career

  • Sharpening your personal narrative to be completely aligned with that understanding

  • Aligning your “tools” to reflect that narrative and to be more authentic to you and more motivating to potential employers

  • Creating a set of specific “filters” that allow you to assess potential job and career opportunities for fit very quickly and earlier in the process

  • Arming you with specific questions for interviews and networking that are unique to you and differentiated from other candidates

  • Having an experienced, independent, empathetic, and energetic thought partner to keep you focused, sane, motivated and moving forward.

  • Landing a job where you’re more inspired, engaged, impactful and successful, likely leading to better performance, compensation and future opportunity.

Why Me (and maybe Why Not)?

  • I have been there and done that.  At a few points in my own career, I have either had to change trajectory or decided I really wanted to.  Experience creates empathy.

  • My decades of experience hiring, managing, mentoring and developing people around the world in different disciplines and in different organizations has given me a unique and powerful perspective on what drives people to be their best.

  • The foundation of my career is in product development, marketing, branding, advertising and sales.  You can put that expertise to work for you.

  • My process involves a degree of self-reflection that most of us never get the chance to do. If that work is not for you, than my approach may not be the best fit.

  • If you’re looking for help primarily to update your resume and LinkedIn, support your networking process, prep for interviews and evaluate opportunities, there are other very capable coaches focused exclusively in that area.  I am happy to make a referral for you.

Testimonials

Don’t just take my word for it! See what a few of my clients have to say about their experience:

“Peter didn't just help me transition into a new role, he also helped me transition to being a different kind of leader, with an entirely new set of skills. He helped make sense of sometimes very confusing environments and he taught me to examine challenges from a new and different altitude. I could always count on him to be kind and supportive, but above all I am grateful that Peter always told me the truth - I trusted him completely.”
- Chloe D.

“I worked with Peter to help me manage my transition from a 24/7 career in public service to one that was multi-faceted and self-driven.  He took me through a very insightful process that let me zero in on what is most important to me, what I really want to be doing to be at my best, and the impact I seek to have going forward. Throughout the time we worked together, Peter helped me develop my personal “story”, explore options and create my new career.  Peter’s empathy, energy and honesty made him a real pleasure to work with.”
Gabrielle F.

“I had hit a wall in my career. Working with Peter reconnected me with my inner self, helped me understand my true drivers and motivators, focused my priorities and guided me through a professional ‘re-awakening’. The process was highly engaging and productive with our 1:1 being focused, methodical and additive. Two years later, I still lean on my learnings from our work together and use them as guideposts to the future. I recommend Peter whole-heartedly to anyone looking for help in finding the “ideal” next chapter of their career.”

“I wasn’t even sure I needed a coach, until a friend mentioned their experience working with Peter and what an impact it had on their career thinking. As soon as I met Peter and heard about his approach, I discovered it was exactly what I needed to help focus the latter stage of my career. Our work together gave me a completely new understanding of what drives me to be my best, how I can make that a core part of my next job, and what types of roles I should be looking at for what might be my last gig. I now feel re-energized, motivated and confident in making this transition work.”
